Based on Truck's idea of a wandering Sméagol, I wanted to see if I could make a reasonably strong version with the full card pool. This is the result. It beat Journey Along the Anduin first try.
Setup and Opening Hand
Since our slippery protagonist can't have attachments, our selection to pull with The Grey Wanderer is limited. The standard grab is Entangling Nets to protect your squishy in the first round, but Elf-stone or Woodmen's Path can be great for scenarios which start with a location in play. (I also considered The Long Defeat, but it takes too long to pay off in almost all cases -- there are some scenarios where you clear the quest first turn, however, where it could be useful).
Mulligan for Timely Aid and Risk Some Light. Henamarth Riversong, Out of the Wild, Loyal Hound, Quickbeam and Ithilien Lookout are always good to see as well, to help you survive the first couple of rounds.
Early game
Use the contract and Deep Knowledge aggressively to build up your board state. Your goal is to Timely Aid and Elf-stone in a couple of big characters, ideally Firyal, Gandalf, and/or Treebeard to help with questing and defense. You should be able to get Mirkwood Hunter into play for 3 or even 2, so time it wisely.
Use all the deck-scrying and protection tools in this deck to stall for several turns until you get your board set up with big allies.
Mid to late game
Use your allies to win.

Apr 09, 2021Very nice! Obviously way more thought-out than mine. |
Apr 10, 2021Followed could certainly be useful, though I like Entangling Nets a bit better since early combat engagement seems more dangerous that staging area threat. Far-sighted, on the other hand, would be an excellent addition. |
Note that I considered A Burning Brand for use with Gildor Inglorion, but it's a lot of cards to set up and without healing didn't seem tanky enough to be worth it. A reasonable option is to add in some Wardens of Healing -- could drop possibly Dori and a Giant Bear for those.
