Gauze 67

I've recently decided to review my pool to create better decks that could suit my personal style, so I've decided to revisit the core set to reboot my ideas and start from scratch.

I've opted for this hero line-up because I hadn't made much use of Glóin and I've found out he can seriously make an impact on a player's board-state in the early turns. The Daughter of the Nimrodel are really important to his ability and, although they're expensive, you can alleviate their cost by means of Stand and Fight, which you should also use to put Beorn into play after discarding him via Éowyn's ability. To this purpose, and help pay for other lore and spirit expensive cards, Steward of Gondor goes on Eowyn.

After taking an undefended attack from an enemy, Glóin generates resources which, in turn, will help you pay for expensive leadership cards or make more than one ally or event enter play each turn. Self Preservation is another useful card that helps this engine keep on running.

On some occasions, though, it might be really interesting to let Gloin die after spending as many of his resources as possible. In such cases, you should make sure Eowyn can pay for Fortune or Fate and try to make Brok Ironfist hit the board for free. So, you'll get your combat and willpower boosted as well as getting Gloin ready again. In fact, combat will be affected if you don't have enough allies on your board to deal with enemies.

The rest of the cards are straightforward to play: try to boost Eowyn's willpower by means of Celebrían's Stone, The Favor of the Lady and Protector of Lórien, which you can also attach to Denethor to increase his defense. Peep into the encounter deck to mitigate the menaces from it and thus keep your allies and heroes safe and sound. The Galadhrim's Greeting is worth its cost for threat reduction and so is Gandalf, as well as direct damage and card draw. This last aspect is empowered by Valiant Sacrifice and Gléowine.

Remember that lore resources will be rather scarce, so it's a good idea to put expensive allies from this sphere into play using Stand and Fight and save your silver tokens to play attachments and events.

I hope you'll enjoy the deck and feel free to suggest changes or improvements.
