Introduction
This deck is build around the idea of Faramir and Eowyn going on a romantic hike, spotting eagles afar. It is a very strong Strider deck.
Playstyle
Éowyn gets nearly all attachments in this deck and is used for questing and defending.:
- Steward of Gondor and Resourceful for more tactics resources
- Strider for questing without exhaust and willpower boost
- Golden Shield for 7 defense with Strider
- Support of the Eagles for even more defense
Faramir is mainly there to get more actions out of your expensive allies, especially Gandalf. Flame of Anor gives him or Radagast even one more actions and potentially a lot of attack boost, as most cards are very expensive in this deck.
With Sneak Attack or Born Aloft you can recycle the following allies:
- Gandalf of course
- Descendant of Thorondor
- Gwaihir
- Landroval
Starting Hand
In your starting hand you mainly need resources, as this deck is full of expensive cards. What you want to see is some of the following key cards:
- Steward of Gondor
- Resourceful
- Timely Aid to make use of the early secrecy in this deck
- Golden Shield
- Strider
Conclusion
This is a very fun and thematic eagle deck featuring Faramir and Éowyn after the war is over. Try it out and let me know your experiences or tweaks in the comments :)

Dec 07, 2016The idea behind Born Aloft is to recycle Gandalf as much as you can. With Resourceful and Steward of Gondor out you can play him every round. Born Aloft gives you an extra Gandalf turn, which is very strong in this deck. Still all the cards you proposed work well too in my opinion, especially the allies and Feint. |
Dec 07, 2016Nice deck! Sterner than Steel would be a good addition against quests with nasty shadow effects. |
Dec 07, 2016Question: What do you mulligan for? There are a lot of cards that would be good to see right away. Is there a particular card that is better to see them the rest? |

Dec 07, 2016Well, poop. Good catch. |
Dec 08, 2016As for mulligan, resources are more important than getting your Strider + Golden Shield combo up. It is fine to have Éowyn ready to defend for the endboss, but you want to spam eagles early. Thus Resourceful, Steward of Gondor and Timely Aid are more important. |
Cool deck idea. I'm curious about Born Aloft, as it usually doesn't seem worthwhile to me. The only target it really makes sense for is Descendant of Thorondor or maybe Gandalf. If I were to make one change, I would take those out and add in another copy of The Eagles Are Coming!, Winged Guardian, and probably Feint. The Eagles are Coming gets stronger and stronger as you add more eagles, and I always like to have a lot of allies when running Timely Aid.
If you wanted to focus more on secrecy, you could consider adding Swift and Silent and/or Vanish from Sight.
Another useful card, although not particularly thematic, would be Erestor to make use of all those extra copies of Golden Shield, Steward of Gondor, and Strider.
Also if you wanted to get really crazy, you could use Taking Initiative. It's a pretty bad card in general, but has a fairly high chance of working in this deck (at least on turn 1).
