This deck is honestly pretty silly, but kind of a fun puzzle.
The goal is simple: end the game with three different heroes from the ones you started with.
These are the general steps to completing this
Start the quest with Boromir, Caldara, and Thurindir heroes.
1) Use Thurindir's setup ability to get Gather Information.
2) Mulligan for one or a few of the following: Helm of secrecy, Prince Imrahil, or Thalion. Secondarily The Road Goes Ever On (or any other side quests), Vigilant DĂșnadan and Seasoned Forager.
3) Use Gather Information to pull any of the above you didn't get.
4) Get a decent board going. Hopefully have Scout Ahead, or The Storm Comes in the VD, because you're about to lose Lore access for a while, but if you have a Warden of Healing out already, it's not much of a loss.
5) Use Helm of secrecy to turn Thurindir into Glorfindel.
5) Get Prince Imrahil into play if he isn't already.
6) Use Boromir's discard ability at an opportune moment.
7) You now have three spirit heroes, so use Caldara's ability at a good time. (Ideally you've ditched a couple good spirit allies into the bin using Daeron's Runes or Elven Spear at this point)
8) If you don't have Thalion in play, get him in and boost him to a hero.
Finish the quest with Prince Imrahil, Thalion and Glorfindel heroes.
I don't really see this as a deck that's strong enough on its own to beat most quests, it was more of a building excercise, but if you are interested in trying it out, here are a few notes:
- Boromirvdoes a lot of the heavy lifting early on, so for the longer quests, you may need to splash in some more threat reduction, like Elrond's Council, The Galadhrim's Greeting or expect to use Gandalfvfor his threat reduction.
- In the early game I like to get a Seasoned Forager onto Boromirvand get out one or two Vigilant DĂșnadan, ideally with Arwenvin play to boost their defense. A Round Shield doesn't hurt either. That will cover most of your defensive needs.
- Getting a Seasoned Forager on Thurindirvis also great, because it can carry over to Glorfindel.
- Your tactics resources are really just going to Vigilant DĂșnadan, so use those to pay for neutral cards when you can.
- Getting one or two uses out of an Elf-Stone before you lose access to lore is super beneficial.
- To better mitigate the loss of lore, getting Scout Ahead into play before you lose Thurindir will allow you to play lore again once Thalionvis a hero. Otherwise the lore cards are good targets for Elven Spear.
- Prince Imrahil and Thalionvcan be a little squishy with only 3 HP, so if the Wardens aren't keeping them healthy enough, a couple Loyal Hounds could be useful to drop in.
Sword-thain could also help
