I decided to do little experiment and try how many attempts I will need to win 5 times with deck, also using progressive play, so only the cards, which were available at that time, when scenario was out. This is #8: The Dead Marshes.

First of all, this deck is based on several assumptions and if they are not correct, this deck won't work as it should and can be considered as faulty. The first assumption is that the escape test, which occurs in the game due Glum objective card is basically a new step (or the last step) of quest phase (if it's not invoked by treachery card) and so the players can play actions and events before and after every step of the quest phase as it's written in the core set rules. If there is no possibility to play actions before the escape test, Fast Hitch won't work and several other cards. Another assumption is that the escape test isn't considered as questing, so if for example Escort from Edoras participate on the test, they don't have to be discarded after the test (same goes for Vassal of the Windlord when the is required for the test in special cases). If these assumptions, which seems logical to me, aren't correct, don't hasitate to write it into the comment sections.

Choice of heroes and attachments:

The point of this choice was to have heroes which can activate also for quest and also for the escape test. Boromir was obvious choice for several reasons: I wanted to test new hero. His ability was logical choice and I also needed strong hero to deal with wilderness enemy cards as Trolls for example. The Unexpected Courage is for him to give him extra action without using threat so much. But he was mostly used for attacking and for escape test which required insted of . The other two heroes I basically picked up only because they're hobbits, so I could use Fast Hitch on them, however both of them proven to be great choice, cause they kept the starting threat level low and their abilities were suitable for this scenario. Bilbo Baggins provided the option to get 2 cards per round and accelerated the hand options. I boosted him with Protector of Lórien for questing and defending, Citadel Plate with hit points and with Fast Hitch and also with A Burning Brand because he was used mainly as quester or defender. Self Preservation is optional, you can use it for him or Boromir. Frodo Baggins is the Steward of Gondor in this game supporting all spheres with his Stand and Fight cards. Fast Hitch for him also. He is the main quester and used also for escape tests mostly. Forest Snare are for the trolls mostly if needed.

Choice of allies:

Gandalf is everywhere so also here Sneak Attack and Born Aloft are for him. Radagast is able to support creature allies from different spheres here, mainly Winged Guardian, Vassal of the Windlord and The Riddermark's Finest and he is helpful also in test or questing. Henamarth Riversong will help you plan your steps and Rivendell Minstrel beside the fact, she'll provide Song of Kings, is helpful in questing and escape tests. The special cases in this scenario, as I mentioned above, were Vassal of the Windlord and Escort from Edoras which were dedicated mostly on escape tests, because they didn't have to be discarded after the tests (if I'm correct ¯_(ツ)_/¯ ) and I used them for questing and fighting only in rare cases.

Events: It's really good to have Will of the West in a case that Glum will will be shuffled into encounter deck, because then it's quite hard to finish the scenario. Same reason why The Galadhrim's Greeting and Dwarven Tomb are here. It'll helps you keep your threat level low.

I win 5 games in 8 attempts without any knowledge about scenario or cards in encounter deck. It's possible to create deck which will do it better, but I enjoyed the mechanics of this one.
