Mustardman 557

Mustardman has a newer deck inspired by this one: Hobbits: Pure Series #2

Pure Series:

This is a series of about 10 decks that I made that don’t share any cards with each other. Meaning I can only use Steward of Gondor in one of my 10 decks. This forces me to use different methods of card draw and resource generation.

I have every expansion, but only 1 core set :(

I do include different cards of the same unique character in different decks. (Ex. Haldir of Lórien hero in my Scout deck and Haldir of Lórien ally in my Silvan deck.)

Hobbit Deck:

This Hobbit deck deck is not a “hide in the shadows” Hobbit deck

It is a non-solo (2+ players) deck and relies a lot on having your threat be lower than the enemies engagement cost.

Defending:

Sam Gamgee is your main defender. He starts off with a measly 1 defense. But you can attach Staff of Lebethron, Hobbit Cloak, and Ring Mail onto Sam in order to turn him into a beast with a total of 5 defense, 4 hit points, and no shadow + readying (if the enemies engagement cost is higher than your threat).

Attack:

Merry is your main attacker. You want to attach the first copy of Fast Hitch that you get onto him. In order to use Merry’s amazing ability to it’s full potential attach Dúnedain Cache, and at least 1 Dagger of Westernesse and either a Rohan Warhorse or another Dagger of Westernesse. Now you have a ranged 5-7 attack that can kill tons of enemies

Since both the Rohan Warhorse and the Dagger of Westernesse are restricted attachments you can only attach 2 of them to Merry at a time :(

Example:

Their are two 4 defense 4 life enemies engaged with another player. That player has a 3+ attack hero (lets say Aragorn) left over for the combat phase. Originally Aragorn would do a total of 0 damage. But if Aragorn and Merry both attack one enemy they kill it! Merry can then ready via Rohan Warhorse, and can also ready Aragorn via his hero ability. Then they can both attack again, defeating the second enemy.

Those little hobbits, aren’t looking too weak anymore

Card Draw:

In this deck, card draw consists of Foe-hammer, Gléowine, Lórien's Wealth, Expert Treasure-hunter, and Pippin’s ability. Expert Treasure-hunter you usually attach to Pippin (since he always commits to the quest) and guess for either ally or attachment. There are 26 attachments and 16 allies, so you have a better chance of drawing a card if you guess attachment, but if you really need a ally for elf-stone, guess ally.

Resources:

Errand-rider helps move around resources from the three different spheres. And Tighten Our Belts is the only true source of resource generation.

A alternate source of resources is Elf-stone. This deck features Elf-stone with many different unique allies to combo with (Gildor Inglorion, Déorwine, Gandalf, Boromir, and Legolas).

Hit Points:

Because hobbits have almost no hit points I’ve put in The Long Defeat, Warden of Healing, and Bill the Pony to help them survive.

Opening Hand:

In your opening hand, you are really looking to get at least one Fast Hitch to put on Merry. Secondary cards to look for are Dagger of Westernesse (even better with Foe-hammer), Hobbit Cloak, and Elf-stone
