Lords of Dale

Three generations in one deck! I noticed that there are no published decks with this hero lineup on RingsDB, and wanted to put one out there.

Dale-Item Archetype

This is a typical Dale-Item deck with a basic complement of Dale allies and their attachments (the precise mix could be tweaked, see below). As usual, mulligan for King of Dale. If you don't find it, Traffic from Dale can help you pay for your allies until it shows up. Other than that, simply load up Bard the Younger with attachments and use 0-cost attachments with Brand's ability to boost and draw more cards.

Ranged Fun

What is not typical is the inclusion of Bard the Elder shenanigans, courtesy of the old standbys Great Yew Bow and Hands Upon the Bow, which have been given new life by the Grey Cloak. Have a Second Breakfast if you need to bring one back after you've used it. With both bows equipped, Bard the Elder will one-shot any enemy with max 2 defense and max 4 hit points. If this isn't enough, consider bringing in Orcrist or Glamdring from the sideboard. There's also the unthematic option of DĂșnedain Warning.

Weaknesses and Customizing

Like most Dale decks, card draw is a struggle. It doesn't help that Foe-hammer really doesn't work with Great Yew Bow or Bow of Yew, as that would be ideal. If you do bring in Biter and Beater, you might consider also adding Warrior Sword to power Foe-hammer. Another option is to use Gandalf plus Sneak Attack, or even Gather Information to help find King of Dale or Necklace of Girion. If you want even more card draw, We Are Not Idle always can (unthematically) help thin the deck. The best solution would be to pair with a deck featuring card draw, such as a Silvan deck with Galadriel and access to events like Heed the Dream and Deep Knowledge. This can also help with management, another potential weakness along with lack of healing.

The deck should do well for questing and combat once it gets rolling. That said, in terms of allies and attachments, the optimal mix will vary by quest and play style. Many could be subbed in/out for others. For example, Knight of Dale or Rhovanion Outrider could find a place, as could Raiment of War or more Ancestral Armor. I kept the cost curve on the low side to help with card draw via Brand's ability, but there are other ways to play a Dale deck.
