The Grudge is a deck posted by Beorn that explores the possibility that Denethor would decide to name Aragorn the rightful king of Gondor. This is a happy deck that honors a sad character of the books. However, he forgot one thing: the ring-bearer and his companions would never be able to leave Breeland without Strider. Okay, maybe Barliman Butterbur would offered them his help, or they could have met Glorfindel, Halbarad or some anonymous DĂșnedain ranger guy, but it's about 95% probable they would end as Nazgul breakfast. But, as Beorn said, "the War of the Ring would have run a different course."
So we let Denethor as he was? That's not necessary, we have another solution: during the siege of the citadel, he may have decided that committing suicide would be the most stupid thing any Gondorian had ever did. The citadel needs a leader, a leader who organizes the defense of the citadel until the armies of Rohan and the Grey Company reaches it and kicks the orc's and Harad's ass. So he organizes Gondor's many warriors to protect Minas Tirith behind its strong walls. He sends some healiers to support the defenders, and Gandalf and our best friend, the fool of a took of course! And so he proves he's worthwile to hols the Rod of the Steward.
This deck is meanly themathic, as it doesn't use the Steward's sons(dead and inconscious respectively) but introduces Gandalf and his toys; and Pipin of course! You must give Steward of Gondor, Visionary Leadership and the Rod of the Steward to Denethor, the Citadel Plate, Gondorian Shield, Song of Wisdom and A Burning Brand to Beregond, In Service of the Steward to Pippin and everything other to the only one who can weil it. Put allies quickly into play with all te resource generation, defend, quest a bit and let the other players attack the orcs with ranged.
