This deck is built to take full advantage of the Forth, The Three Hunters! contract and Golden Belt to quickly turn all of your heroes into monsters. It's meant for multiplayer, but might work in solo. A previous version of this deck used Éowyn as the tactics hero, but Bilbo Baggins is much less-used and his interaction with guarded attachments plays nicely in an attachment-heavy deck like this. The extra enemies from the guarded attachments allow Bilbo to quest for more, and you should have no problem dispatching them with Haldir.
The deck is comprised of resource/card advantage and voltron attachments.
Economy Package:
- Forth, The Three Hunters! - On side A, the agenda basically gives you 3 extra resources per round (!!!) if you have enough restricted attachments to play. It allows for a much faster ramp up because you can play 2 attachments on Haldir and/or Gimli on the first turn.
- Ring of Thrór - This is basically a Vilya that stands your hero instead of exhausting. The percentage of attachments in the deck makes it fairly reliable. Huge value if you can hit an Ancestral Armor with it.
- Steward of Gondor - A classic. Always goes on Gimli to fuel his reaction and get the +1 defense from Gondorian Shield. If someone else at the table is using Steward, you could try The Day's Rising, Captain's Wisdom or Dwarven Shield to generate resources.
- Unlikely Friendship - Amazing value anytime you can include it in a deck. Always give the resource to Gimli.
- Glamdring - Should be 1-2 cards a round on Haldir
- King Under the Mountain - Great card draw on Gimli. Probably too expensive to play without Steward.
- Foe-hammer - Haldir is basically guaranteed a weapon from turn 1.
With all of the economy and card draw, you can get your heroes geared up in a hurry. Side B lets you go crazy by allowing an extra restricted attachment and giving a big boost.
What your ideal lineup might look like after 3-5 rounds:
-- HALDIR, SNIPER EXTRAORDINAIRE --
6 , 11 ranged
Can quest (via Wingfoot) and attack twice (via Gimli). Draws up to 2 cards a turn (via Glamdring)
- Glamdring
- 2x Bow of the Galadhrim
- Rivendell Blade (included as +2 in the stats)
- Wingfoot
- Golden Belt
-- GIMLI, UNSTOPPABLE TANK --
6 , 7 , 8 HP sentinel
Can quest (stand via Ring of Thrór) and defend 3 times (via Armored Destrier) while discarding shadow cards
- Ring of Thrór
- Steward of Gondor
- Gondorian Shield
- Ancestral Armor
- Hauberk of Mail
- 2x Armored Destrier
- Golden Belt
-- BILBO, SNEAKY BURGLAR --
9+
Damages enemies via questing
- Celebrían's Stone
- Sting
- Strider
- Ring Mail (or any other random restricted attachment)
- When it gets released, Stone of Elostrion would be great on him (guarded, restricted, +2 , draw an extra card each turn)
General Strategy
By this point you are questing for 20+ while being able to single-handedly deal with 2+ enemies per turn. On top of that, the contract lets you heal each of your heroes every turn, so you don't need to worry too much about Gimli getting beaten down or Bilbo Baggins dying to archery.
Your teammates might complain about all of the enemies and locations you are adding (via guarded cards), but you can quickly start making up for that by murdering them (the enemies, not your teammates).
Haldir can sometimes kill 2 enemies before they even make an attack. Shoot one in staging via Hands Upon the Bow. Then, after Gimli defends an attack, you can stand Haldir and use his ability to shoot a second enemy.

Feb 21, 2020Aren't three copies of Ancestral Armor too many since you have only one possibile target? Since you seem to use a lot some Guarded attachments The King's Return could be a good addiction. In any case cool deck. |

The King's Return is a card that I haven't actually tried yet, but it might end up being very good. Especially if there are more guarded cards released (like Stone of Elostrion) that would give you more targets to choose from. The problem right now is that resources are in high demand. If it was a or neutral card, I would definitely include 2x. |
Really nice hero lineup, wouldn't have thought on including this Gimli but it seems to work well with the contract and guarded attachments !
