wehehe has a newer deck inspired by this one: Rohan sheanigans

Rohan has always been my favourite faction in the game. For sure, there are a lot of better decks, more reliable and powerful, but I feel very comfortable with this deck.

It is designed to be a balanced deck which can do everything. Defense, which tends to be the biggest flaw of Rohan decks, is covered with Warden of Helm's Deep and Déorwine. The second one has a great shadow cancellation effect, while the first can be equipped with a Raiment of War (providing an amazing 4 defense, with 4 Heal Points). Also, it allow you to play Sterner than Steel.

Grimbold is my favourite piece in the deck. It provides 2 WillPower, while you can use it as a feint, and you don't need it to be ready to use it. Also, if Gamling is in play... you can virtually feint an enemy every turn (if you give Théodred's resource to Éowyn, you'll be able to drop it every turn thanks to Théoden's ability).

They are a couple of allies with some abilities, trying to cover other aspects of the game, such as questing (Escort from Edoras, West Road Traveller...), attacking (Ceorl, Éothain...), or location control (Snowbourn Scout, The Riddermark's Finest).

You also have two ways to ready your heroes: Heir of Mardil and Snowmane. Usually, the first you draw will be played on Théoden, while the second should go on Arwen (if you already have Herugrim in play, is better to play the sword and the first readying effect on Eowyn)

In the first version of the deck I was playing steward of Gondor, but, due to the lack of card drawing I tended to hoard a lot of useless resources in Théoden, so I finally dropped. This is exactly what I'm trying to improve in the deck, the lack of card drawing. (I want to keep it thematically)

Nothing to say about the usual "Sneak Attack + Gandalf", just remember than Éomund is also a good choice to use with Sneaks.

I wanted to be as thematical as possible with this deck, and I think that the result is a decent deck which can deal with almost every quest which are not amongst the hardest.

Also, it is easy to adjust the deck to specific quest demands (keeping the thematic): If you need more attack, you can add Westfold Outrider If you need more location control, add Ride to Ruin If you need more deffense, add Golden Shield IF you need more willpower, you can use Astonishing Speed

I hadn't thought of Raiment of War on a Warden of Helm's Deep to allow for Sterner than Steel. That is a nice solution to giving Rohan a dedicated defender without Erkenbrand.

This is a very interesting Deck. I like Rohan a lot too and will definetely try that hero combo once the FoW-Set is released. As for Card Draw improvements I found Valiant Sacrifice and Ancient Mathom very effective in Rohan Decks. Hope this helps ;)

If you add a few more Weapons (start by increasing quantities of Herugrim and Raiment of War) you can use Foe-hammer for more draw power.

@Kakita_Shiro Foe-hammer wouldn't be very good here. You have to exhaust the weapon (mutually exclusive with Herugrim) and it has to be attached to a Hero (doesn't work with his intended use for Raiment)

@Kakita_Shiro, it's exactly what @TipsyGamer says. Raiment of War is there mainly to allow me for Sterner than Steel, so it is intended to be played on allies.

About your suggestion, @Skeffington, I was using Valiant sacrifice, and they worked quite well, but I removed them to add Mustering the Rohirrim and the second copy of Herugrim. Also, I'm not too conviced of using Ancient mathom, I use to feel that it doesn't let you control when to draw, but, anyways... they are 3 cards... so maybe I'll try with them.

Another option I am considering is to replace Mustering the rohirrim by A very good tale. I think that "Look at 5, play up to 2, is better than look at 10, draw 1.

I like that you dont use the Steward of Gondor so your fellowship can build a thematic Gondor-deck!
