Nature is healing, Sauron's the virus.

EDIT:

After discussing the deck on Discord with @Some Sort, he advised me to try going all in on the Songs using Love of Tales. It's been great so far. Here are the changes made to the list, and I'll be posting the new version once I get more games under my belt with it:

Alright, so this is my first attempt at making something work with the new MotK contract and my first attempt at publishing an actual, kinda original decklist. For my target I'm choosing (MotK) Ioreth, though, if the unlucky thing happens and she's in your starting hand you could choose Henamarth Riversong or any of the two Ent uniques (I'm yet to experience a situation like that, but in theory it should not be that bad).

What's the deck about?

This is a Treebeard Ent deck with a Secrecy twist, thanks to Ioreth's 1-threat cost and Folco Boffin's unique ability. We have an army of Ent allies who help us quest and fight, but the star of the show is Treebeard himself, who, after equpping him with an Ent Draught, Self Preservation and Strider, makes for an amazing quester and attacker. With A Burning Brand he can also defend if needs be and ready with Boomed and Trumpeted to fight right back.

It's definitely not the most powerful deck imaginable, but it can hold it's own, especially if we manage to put some Resourcefuls into play. In solo it should be able to at least hold it's own against the slower decks, and in multiplayer, paired with a deck that can take care of the early game, should be able to provide pretty strong late-game, both in terms of and / capability.

How does it play?

You want to mulligan hard for Resourceful and anything to get you going card-wise. First turn is probably the most dangerous, as you probably have to quest with both Folco and Treebeard, leaving you with no defence unless you were lucky enough to draw and play Quickbeam.

Then, you basically have 7 turns to dig for any additional Resourcefuls and for Strider. Once you have some Resourcefuls in hand and Strider on Treebeard you can discard Folco to his ability to get the secrecy discount on Resourceful and the action advantage from Strider on Treebeard.

With the amount of healing in the deck Treebeard should be able to soak some encounter damage, adjust his willpower as needed and increase his attack to fall even the biggest enemies, all in one turn.

In order to play Tactics cards you need Song of Battle. We have Rivendell Minstrel to fetch them, with the added benefit that after you've got your Song of Battle Minstrels can still get you a copy of the Drinking Song, which is amazing even after Folco is discarded to refresh your whole hand.

What's next?

There are definitely cards which would help here that I am missing, so any critique or advice is welcome. I am not sure about the package, as the Song of Battle is really cumbersome. Maybe using some other allies instead of Ents would be better, and more consistent. Let me know what you think!

Since you go to the trouble to set up secrecy with Treebeard, why not take advantage of more secrecy cards? In particular, Risk Some Light and Out of the Wild are powerful secrecy events. You might also consider Vanish from Sight and Noiseless Movement to take the most advantage.

I'd consider dropping Mithrandir's Advice -- since it's not useful after you ditch Folco Boffin -- and adding in some Daeron's Runes and maybe even Deep Knowledge if you really want more draw. Key will be to dig for those secrecy events and Resourceful as early as possible, ideally first turn, so you have time and acceleration to set up both Treebeard and your Ent army.

If you drop the package, you could add Ithilien Lookout to make up some of the missing power. Losing Boomed and Trumpeted is unfortunate, but you running (MotK) Henamarth Riversong would give you access to Lembas. Magic Ring and Leather Boots are some additional readying options you can access with just .

Thank you @kjeldfor the comment, appreciated!

While I do agree that having secrecy only for the sake of Resourceful seems like a waste, adding those, albeit powerful, secrecy events would negatively impact the other two packages we have here, Ent allies and Treebeard healing.

While I do strive to ditch [Folco Boffin] in this version of the deck, it's only after I'm certain ditching him will leave me in a better board-state, so there is a lot of time/rounds when [Mithradir's Advice] is still at full power.

Definitely thought about using Ithilien Lookout in place of the , I'd definitely use them if I were to drop the Tactics package. [Lembas] would also be great, but since most of the time we have Ioreth as our MotK hero, it'd just whiff.

I'm actually working on a new version of this, after discussing the deck on the CotR discord channel. The idea's to go all-in on the Song package, adding Love of Tales, Song of Healing (from the newest AP, the same MotK comes in) and Scroll of Isildur to replay Songs/Mithrandir's Advice/Entmoot. Some initial testing left me having an explosive turn where I drew my whole deck, gained upwards of 10 resources and played all three Resourcefuls at the same time after ditching Folco. It needs more testing to see if it's consistent enough, but the deck's taking shape.

@AnfIf you are looking for the full mono- draw and resource crazyness, I suggest not to ditch Folco and play the Scroll of Isildur - Bartering - Sword-thain combo to make scrolls free and recur them with Erebor Hammersmith. I am using it in a full hobbit line-up (https://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/13310/barlimanandrobin-6.0) but I am sure there are other possibilities now that we have MoTK.

Sorry for the double post, but I just realized that once Sword-thain and Scroll of Isildur are in play, Bartering lets you play Self Preservation for free. That could be great for Treebeard!

@MarcelfWoah, that makes so much sense! I've heard about the combo of Sword-thain being played off of a discounted Scroll of Isildur with Bartering, but never thought of recurring the Scrolls themselves then with Erebor Hammersmiths - great idea, though I'm afraid it'd be hard to fit those pieces here. I'll check it out in the newer version of this deck (which uses Love of Tales as per my previous comment). Thanks!

You're welcome^^ With the free scrolls you can recur Drinking Song and it produces resources with Love of Tales, so you probably don't need too many Song cards in your deck. In addition, playing Drinking Song from the discard makes you draw one more card than playing it from your hand. Personally I really love the Drinking Song - Love of Tales combo :D

@MarcelfDefinitely! I managed to squeeze Bartering into a version of this deck where I switched Folco Boffin for Pippin and it works great. I actually don't use it to play Sword-thain, as I thought that'd be too janky for what I want to achieve with this, but I use it to play Resourceful for 1 resource outside of secrecy (It's a great alternative to using Folco's ability, so the switch to Pippin wasn't as hard). I also use it to play Self Preservation, as you suggested previously. I also do not have the space for Erebor Hammersmith, but currently I think that playing 3 Scrolls is good enough here and already after the 2nd/3rd Scroll you're almost decked.

I'll play some more with this iteration to have some actual data proving that the deck's good before publishing the revised decklist. Thanks for your help!
