Bears! Bears! Bears!
I love those fuzzy tactics allies, especially how easy it is to bring them to the board with Beorning Skin-changers. This deck is made to set up bears all day long by planting them into your discard pile while using and reusing those skin-changers ad nauseam. And with Glorfindel making his Long-extended debut in Tactics, he not only pairs well with an Erestor/Arwen Undómiel Noldor deck, but he breathes new life into Asfaloth for some additional location control. I also tacked on some item and attachment recursion for good measure.
Oh yeah, sh*t's going down in the woods.
Tips
-
Discard those Bears and Beorns when you draw them. You are never going to pay for them using tactics resources. It's the Beorning Skin-changers you want, so pay for them or recur them using Stand and Fight.
-
Remember, Stand and Fight and Reforged can be played during any phase, so you can save them until late in the round to use them strategically. Ran out of blockers? Recur a Beorning Skin-changer, turn it into a bear, and fight back! You've got a skin-changer, but no bears in the discard pile? Recur an Ered Nimrais Prospector and mine those bears into existence. Need to ready a hero? Reforge some Miruvor or Lembas. Need to make progress on a location, but you had to discard Asfaloth last round? Reforge him!
-
Be careful with your Will of the West plays. No need to use them hastily and clear out that useful selection of cards in your discard pile. If you somehow discard your last copy without using it, Ered Nimrais Prospector is there to help you get it back.
-
Don't hesitate to use those Bear and Beorn ally special abilities, and don't worry about sending them back to your deck. After all, it won't be long before they're back in your hand or discard pile and ready for another skin change.

May 12, 2022i like the basestrategy, but it is imo not troll-proved for his startingthread of 31. but it inspired me to make a deck with Elladan instead of Glorfindel |
May 12, 2022I tinkered with the idea of creating a dedicated defender using Box of Earth with Cloak of Lórien and Protector of Lórien, but I found in playtesting that the Giant Bears and Beorn were doing most of the heavy lifting in combat. I'll try enhancing Erestor's defense on the next iteration. I can think of a few cards I could swap out out in order to open up more defense options . As there's really no other card draw or discard retention in the deck, Eregion Survivors are usually activated each round. Plus, they're great for progress throttling by discarding your last card to Protector of Lórien during the Quest player action window. It's not too difficult to set up a bear or Beorn on Round 1, but if that fails, an early Elrond's Counsel can get you under 30 and away from a troll's attention. Thanks for your input, -PB- |
May 12, 2022here is my version. www.ringsdb.com would like to discuss, what version is better. |

May 12, 2022Cool idea, love seeing Bears in action. |

i would think they both have a similar amount of beornings out at the same time (that only depends on draw the Beorning Skin-changer discarding the bears and re-use the Beorning Skin-changer with Stand and Fight both supported by arwen, who makes it possible to play either of it in 1 round . while i can hope for the noldor-discount because of To the Sea, to the Sea! and start below 30 here it is a mix of allies with some dwarfes to improve the discarding parts and a use of glorfindel from the start for the cost of higher startingthread. |

Since I decided not to focus on card draw and retention, I would not have the resources to play 3+ cost Noldor allies without relying on To the Sea, to the Sea!. Instead, I focused on 2 cost or lower cards. Due to my empty hand, tri-sphere heroes, and discarded Beorning Skin-changers, the Noldor allies that made the cut were mechanically sound for this deck. One big thing I do not like about this build is some of the item recursion. It spends too many Lore resources to draw Lore attachments. I tested a bit more last night and will have a 2.0 revision up today that runs a bit cleaner. |
May 13, 2022Another similar deck here, which I posted a few months ago. ringsdb.com In the current version I'm playing 3 copies of Will of the West instead of A Test of Will, which clearly is not a good card in Erestor decks. I found Elven Jeweler to be great for this deck. Specially if you draw it in the first round where you'll have to discard a lot of cards. Also I'm staying out of ALEP cards, but the main idea of the deck is very similar. |

My first go with Beorning Skin-changers was a The Grey Wanderer Galadriel deck, It uses similar recursion mechanics. With quick bears and secrecy, it was quite a powerhouse. Check it out: |

May 18, 2022Here's an updated version of the deck: Bearestor) Recurs Redundantly Again |
Did you consider Nori, as well? And without a dedicated defender, maybe some Feint and possibly Revealed in Wrath (at least as a sideboard card). Relic of Nargothrond would also make Erestor into a credible mid-range defender. Could drop some Eregion Survivor to make room -- that seems to be the weakest link.
