Disclaimer: This is not a secrecy deck...
Middle Earth academics believe that, if you want to go deep into Mordor without raising any suspicion, giant bears and eagles are not recommended as your first choice. However, Radagast has never paid attention on the people behind the desks.
Heroes:
Notes:
- Gwaihir can be readied outside planning phase, without discarding allies, with:
- Beorn is not immune to Landroval's response (and those are good news).
- Since Radagast is going to quest without exhaustion most of the time, the Word of Command can also target him.
- Threat reducers:
- Favor of the Valar
- Gandalf. Each copy can be used multiple times with:
- Born Aloft, Flight of the Eagles and Meneldor's Flight are also useful to...
- put back in hand (before triggering discard actions):
- trigger leaving play responses of:
- The Wizard Pipe is useful for using the Gwaihir's Debt as a Sneak Attack.
Sideboard:
- Support of the Eagles
- It was originally in the deck, but I found threat reduction more needed than boosting Gwaihir (since this deck already has good defenders and attackers). So, I swapped them by two copies of the Favor of the Valar.
- If needed, since Born Aloft and Flight of the Eagles do the same job than Meneldor's Flight but in a better way, you can remove it and then include some copies of the support.

Mar 01, 2023This looks great! Nice title and description. Do you think Meneldor's Flight is worth it? I would rather have Beorning Skin-changer or Honour Guard if you don't mind the lack of theme. |

Mar 01, 2023In looking at the action windows for attacking and defending, I am not seeing a window to use Meneldor's Flight to prevent Winged Guardian from being discarded. I see where there is an action window to save Vassal of the Windlord though. Can you help explain to me? |
Mar 01, 2023Would it be after “6.4.3 Determine Combat Damage”? |
Mar 01, 2023I believe that "resolves" and "ends" are synonymous in the Framework Steps for the Combat Phase. If that is correct, then there is an action window between 6.4.3 (or 6.8.3 for player attacks) "Determine Combat Damage" and 6.4.4 (or 6.8.4 for player attacks) "Enemy/Player attack ends [resolves]." So you could play Meneldor's Flight during either action window -- between 6.4.3 and 6.4.4 (enemy attacks) to save a Winged Guardian or between 6.8.3 and 6.8.4 (player attacks) to save a Vassal of the Windlord. |

title with disclaimermakes me smile :) :)
i think you did a good job, not using Support of the Eagles and including Favor of the Valar
if not getting staff and The Eagles Are Coming! early i could imagine to get some startingissues? what about a Gléowine or a Messenger Raven? (with Wizard Pipe a save carddraw)
