I haven't build a deck in a while, and i always enjoyed the concept of secrecy, so today, i went out and got a Secrecy deck constructed with all cards up to Shadow and Flame, This means that certain cards, such as Leaf Brooch, Vanish from Sight will not be included since they havent been released during the Dwarrowdelf cycle. I also didn include any of the Saga boxes, so no A Very Good Tale.
The decks heroes are a good set of heroes who can work together rather well, Glorfindel will quest without exhausting once you find Light of Valinor or a Unexpected Courage though the latter can also work on Aragorn. I chose Aragorn for his ability to lower your threat once per game back to 17 to play any leftover cards for their secrecy cost once you crossed the magic limit of 20 threat and happen to draw your Resourceful late.
To make good use of the Secrecy keyword, i chose to include the secrecy cards like Dúnedain Wanderer and Timely Aid to help putting allies on the board. The resource accelaration from Steward of Gondor will also help out nicely since you do get a penalty for choosing two heroes instead of the usual 3.
Both heroes get some of their toys in the earlier APs so i included them here as well, Glorfindel gets Asfaloth and Light of Valinor ( and Elrond's Counsel to a certain extend) while Aragorn receives Sword that was Broken, Celebrían's Stone and Arwen Undómiel to help in his defence.
For more threat reduction, Elrond's Counsel and Needful to Know will let you drop your threat at the right time to stay as long as possible under the 20 threat. Henamarth Riversong will make sure that you can time Needful to Know so that it doesnt fizzle on a treachery.
The powercards are also included such as the Sneak Attack Gandalf combo, A Burning Brand and A Test of Will to make sure that the player could theoraticly win on his own against a lower difficulty quest.
I'll make a updated version of this deck once Strider comes out, as that is a very good card to include for this type of deck. That deck will be the Secrecy deck that will be up to date with the current cardpool (Drowned Ruins AP)

Jan 19, 2018I can't remember if I have. It has been a while since I used this deck. I would certainly add a third hero for that quest, since your threat will be set at 0 at the start of the game. So Secrecy should be easy to maintain for a few rounds. The deck uses up to Shadow and Flame, so obviously it does not use a couple of good cards that have come out for Secrecy decks since. Strider alone is already worth to include here. If you do plan on taking it against the quest, let me know if you can win. Good Luck! |
Hi, have you tested this deck with Shadow and Flame? Did it work well against the Balrog?
