doomguard 1963

inspired by some discussion about howto make best grey wanderer aragorn. this is my soloution:

  1. we are deep in Alep-territory, so if you do not like it, its not for you ;)
  2. it shines best in multiplayer but i consider my version (specially with sideboard) as decent soloplay

with the new mechanics of Aragorn and "title"-cards there is some to make in the right order:

with Aragorn + The Grey Wanderer you can have 2 1-cost title-attachment from the start. so Estel and Elessar is chosen. in addition to their ability, aragorn has now and that allows him to play as many of the events as you can get and Ring of Barahir he also have enough traits from the start, to be able for Andúril.

with Estel + Aragorn you can fish twice a round for whatever card you need i propose following order (if not already in hand):

if you have a Sneak Attack or a Gandalf in hand consider, search or the other, questboost and 3 cards are worth it.

independent from this order, play as much of the "quickstarter" A Lesson in Caution and Taking Initiative as possible as early as possible.

mid-game

equip aragorn and get some of his rangerbuddys in play (the Grey Companion are more cheap the more titles aragorn have) boost some allies with titles, The Renewer can only be played, if Ring of Barahir is in play. depending on need Thorongil aragorn. tactic seems the favourite in multiplayer, but the others can also make sense.

add Helm of Secrecy if you think another transformation (e.g. Aragorn for thread reset) could be needed.

in solo use The One Ring + buffs

I am surprised not to see A Test of Will or Hasty Stroke in the sideboard.

Love how the allies are also all Neutral, including the Grey Companions and The Grey Pilgrim, haha

@NERD what would you cut for A Test of Will i shadowcancelling is needed, i think it should be played with Inner Strength if you know what partner you have,i think one of the (3 times) signs could be replaced with A Test of Will

What about Chieftain of the North, at least in sideboard? And Celebrían's Stone in place of Dúnedain Quest? Dúnedain Remedy might also be a nice sideboard card for multiplayer games.

if you play with the The One Ring there is no place or Celebrían's Stone else, replace 1 Dúnedain Quest isgood idea.

Have you tried any testing with Elven-light? I think it pairs nicely with Estel unless you are finding the duplicate uniques is enough to cover the discard cost.

the events mostly give cards (Sneak Attack with Gandalf) i more cards are needed (would need testing ) i would rather add some Deep Knowledge (can be played 1. in a round)
