This deck is part of a set of 16 decks, for all details check out the project here: 16 Decks Were Given to the Race of Men.

Rating:

  • Preferred Player Count: 2 - 3
  • Complexity: Low
  • Time Intensity: Low
  • Focus: Combat

Synopsis:

This combat oriented deck aims to kill enemies (ideally before they attack). This is possible through events and Haldir of Lórien's ability. In case an occasional defense is still required, use Beregond. Though being very adapt at killing enemies, this deck cannot kill them by the dozen and does not quest well. It will however take quite a bit of combat-pressure away from your companions, allowing them to build up their boardstate relatively easy.

How it's played:

Look for a solid number of weapons to begin with and drawing options. You want to make sure that Haldir of Lórien and Legolas get to 7 attack as soon as possible. Once both heroes are well-equipped, try to kill enemies before they attack or after you have safely defended with Beregond. Because this deck tries to play 3-4 cards every round, try to find cards early on that help you to draw. This can be achieved with:

In the late game or when things are not exactly going to plan, there is still Hour of Wrath to bail you out. It's rather expensive, but should be affordable after triggering Proud Hunters or Magic Ring. Having Beregond defend all in a given round or make 10+ progress through Legolas can easily win you the game at times. When you reach 40+ threat, you might even trigger them both.

Changes:

Many changes have been applied to this deck. More options to defend and attack have been included so the player can improve its board state and no longer has to rely on having all the good events on right moment. We also included more cards to improve the consistency: Daeron's Runes, Open the Armory, Steward of Orthanc, Gandalf, The White Council. The last few of these options are rather expensive but can help to get you out of a slump. The deck has multiple good drawing effects in Gléowine, Master of the Forge, Haleth and Foe-hammer, so the key will be to get that first one in play. We were also forced to swap out all Gondorian Shield since they were required in the other decks, but this has been compensated by the inclusion of Raiment of War.

Strengths: Early Defense, Killing

Weaknesses: Willpower
