Kaspatou 704
This is probably the deck which made me hesitate the most.
This deck tries to make the most of Lay of the Nauglamír.
This deck has two objectives : Noldor's & Dwarf's mechanics.
1/ Discard from our hand to swarm with To the Sea, to the Sea! and Galdor of the Havens
2/ Discard from our deck to have some ressources with Hidden Cache, the well known combo Imladris Stargazer & Zigil Miner and Ered Luin Miner and play as soon as possible Lords of the Eldar every turns.
During my last tests, i was able to loop Lords of the Eldar from the round 5 or 6 with 13 allies on the table on average.
Lay of the Nauglamír help us to swarm faster and to dig our deck.
Galdor of the Havens was the first hero i chose.
Dáin Ironfoot was before, then i add Thorongil... but we need too fast so i choose Dain ultimately. Steward of Gondor and Captain's Wisdom are important for the swarm, A Very Good Tale to swarm and dig.
Before Galadriel i chose Arwen Undómiel but we have enough with Dain and with steward we don't need extra ressources. On the other hand we need our allies questing for free and ready to fight the first 5 rounds. Furthermore we can play the ally Arwen Undómiel !
Indeed, we need the maximum of 2 cost allies because of Lay of the Nauglamír and Wandering Spirit !
That's why we have so many of them. Erebor Hammersmith is helpfull with our mechanics, Ered Nimrais Prospector too. After round 5 we have 0 card so Eregion Survivor is very strong.
We don't have much defense so i play The One Ring with Inner Strength and Unexpected Courage for Dain. He is pretty solid with that.
I hesitated a lot with A Test of Will. This is one of the best card of the game but here we want play everything FAST and not keep anything in hand. So i play only one test of will.
Glorfindel is good for A Very Good Tale. We can play it fast with To the Sea, to the Sea!.
The contract The Last Alliance help us to swarm even faster. We use it for Dain at the beginning and for Lords of the Eldar later.
For example, a little Erebor Hammersmith is not a 1/1/1 ally but a 3/3/2 since round 5 or 6.
In multi we can obviously play this deck with a Dwarf deck because of Dain . We don't play too much unique ally too.
I had a lot of fun to build this deck, thanks again to Alep.
I think that we have a lot of possibility with this deck so i must have forgotten some things. Don't hesitate if you have any suggestions !
A "little" lay to finish :
The Lay of the Nauglamír
_In ancient days the dwarves did create,
Sparkling wonders so truly great,
In Nogrod they worked day and night,
On gems and jewels shining bright,
In forges hot but halls so cold,
To polish ruby, silver - gold.
Now there was a Noldor elf,
He asked the dwarves to build himself,
Halls in light of friendly bond,
He would call it Nargothrond,
Upon the dwarves he would bestow,
Jewels with ever fairest glow,
With these stones the dwarves did build,
A necklace fairer than e’er made,
Nauglamír was its granted name,
This splendid work increased their fame,
They gave it to the elven king,
Whose bards about the jewel did sing,
Nights grew darker as time passed,
These great halls so fair and vast,
Were raided by a dragon vile,
Whom threw the work upon his pile,
Of stolen gold and precious stones,
Amongst the elven victims’ bones,
The drake did die at hands of Túrin,
And the jewel found its way to Hurin,
Whom brought Thingol this work so fair,
And was enchanted by its glare,
Craving to fast on it the Silmaril,
And craft a work of astounding skill,
He looked to the dwarves for this,
And they did give a sigh of bliss,
At the sight of their own work gleam,
As if something from a dream,
And Thingol too was impressed,
This jewel was truly blessed,
But for this splendor they had built,
They had lost all sense of guilt,
As Thingol’s price they did demand,
The Nauglamír so fair and grand,
But Thingol would not have them take,
The nicest work of dwarven-make,
Instead he had them sent away,
Without a single form of pay,
These words did bring the dwarves to hate,
By axe and sword they sealed his fate,
And so the King fell to his knees,
And the necklace did they seize,
In their travel to their halls,
They yearned the safety of their walls,
But elves had caught them on the road,
Ere they reached their safe abode,
All were killed - they killed them all,
Only two prevent their fall,
The elves did take the precious work,
That day was gloomy - that day was murk,
Clad in blood and tears of fear,
That is how they did appear,
Before their lord in crimson cloak,
The noble king of Nogrod’s folk,
The dwarves did tell the entire tale,
And these words truly did not fail,
To have the dwarves raise their ire,
At this news so terrible and dire,
With an army clad in steel,
And a burning fighting zeal,
They marched upon the elven caves,
To send the traitors to their graves,
And with them take the Nauglamír,
With its gems so bright and clear,
And so too they took the rest,
Every jewel and gold and chest,
But along the river at the stony ford,
They were met by another elf horde,
The dwarves fought long and bravely,
But in the end it ended gravely,
There they met their early doom,
For the king no proper burial tomb,
And the treasure - that was lost,
Woe the lives this jewel cost,
Perhaps one day we’ll find once more,
This wondrous item of days of yore._

Apr 04, 2023It's always interesting to see other versions :) Yours is very different ! I don't particularly want play Lay of the Nauglamír round 1, you don't play that much with your discard pile... No Ered Luin Miner in your deck? They are free with A Very Good Tale and the lay. |
Apr 04, 2023i know. have 3 Hidden Cache and in my games every time got zigil+starazer out within 3 turns. Ered Luin Miner cost 3 so on hand its not this good as a 2-cost-ally, that have cardeffects i want to have. could replace the Veteran Axehand its perhaps more efficient, but i like them ;) perhaps i used my the Ered Luin Miner in another deck, i do not remember, can recommend to use them. |
Apr 04, 2023Yes on hand they are bad but you have stuff to discard them ! ;) Lay of the Nauglamíris a good stuff for that ! Veteran Axehand are good & nostalgic ! :D But if you have them on hand they are worse than Ered Luin Miner :D |
Apr 04, 2023you are totally right. |
Apr 04, 2023Love the lay! Very interested by the creative space in between dwarves and noldors. One usually discard from hand the other from th top of the deck but both get value of the discarded cards, like you show in this deck. 5 is a steep cost but if you get 1 hidden cache and 1 miner in the process it can become insane! |
Apr 04, 2023completely agree |
Apr 05, 2023You pay 5 the lay, then you pray Iluvatar to have something :D |
Apr 05, 2023and if you have one of Imladris Stargazer or Zigil Miner on hand you might find the other and can mine more and more..... have made all the alepszenarios with that build (except that one that reduce what you can have on the table, nasty one ;) ) |
Apr 05, 2023However someone told me that i cant target Lords of the Eldar with The Last Alliance :'( Lords of the Eldar isn't in play... So we have to target Dain. |
perhaps you are interested in my Lay of the Nauglamír-deck. i have Erestor instead of Galdor of the Havens and arwen instead of galadriel, it tries to play Lay of the Nauglamír 1. round see:
