Mulligan for Resourceful and Saruman's Staff. I'll often keep a really good hand with Word of Command, though. Use the doomed events like Deep Knowledge, The Seeing-stone, and Far-sighted to ready Saruman.
The main thing this deck struggles with is willpower, card draw, and recursion. I'd really appreciate any ideas to improve it, especially cards to take out! It's mostly a multiplayer deck (the doomed events are just plain better with more players, especially with Saruman's Staff taking out the doomed part.
If you're playing multiplayer, however, you're going to have to include Desperate Alliance and use Helm of Secrecy to switch Saruman for Aragorn, unless you can convince someone else in your group to play Aragorn/Desperate Alliance, in which case I would switch Saruman out for Elrond. You're going back to 13 threat, so why not make the most use of it?
In all, this deck is a lot of fun to play!

Feb 26, 2021Maybe add Daeron's Runes or We Are Not Idle to help a little with card draw. |

Feb 26, 2021The problem with We Are Not Idle is it uses up your non- play for the turn. You could always consider Drinking Song, Stone of Elostirion (also helps with willpower), Heed the Dream, and Glamdring for additional card draw. I'd also reconsider your ally lineup, as it doesn't seem optimal for getting you (a) strong willpower and (b) a good defender. I would sack all six eagles and all of the Knights of the White Tower, and replace with something like Giant Bear for defense. You could also lean into Ents with Wellinghall Preserver, Wandering Ent, and Derndingle Warrior. That would solve willpower and defense. With all the big allies, you should probably also run 3x Timely Aid and bump Steward of Orthanc up to 2 or 3x. So allies might look more like (20): 2x Giant Bear 2x Firyal 1x Gleowine 1x Ioreth 1x Quickbeam 2x Soldier of Isengard 3x Steward 2x Treebeard 2x Wandering Ent 2x Derndingle Warrior 2x Wellinghall Preserver If Ents are too slow, you can look at other high-efficiency options in the defense and willpower departments. You can also drop Protector of Lórien, as you don't have enough card draw to really power it well. For events, I don't think you really will need Helm of Secrecy all that much, right? You could drop it. Likewise you probably only need one Waters of Nimrodel. What about Close Call instead? |

In regards to Helm of Secrecy, I kind of needed it... whenever I played I always ended the game with pretty high threat, and it was good insurance against longer quests too. The reason I didn't use Timely Aid is that I didn't really stay in secrecy that long, but that's probably my fault with using too much doomed cards too soon. |

Awesome! I love this contract--it convinced me to finally build one built on Eomer that I've been thinking about.
