Discard Pile

This Noldor deck is focused on card draw, discard synergies, and making the most of the Noldor’s powerful attachments and events. Narya, To the Sea, to the Sea!, and Asfaloth are just a few examples of the tools this deck brings to the table.

I’ve changed the deck a bit since, with the last nerf, I can’t Reforged Asfaloth anymore. :( A Good Harvest is the answer now.

The deck performs quite well with this change. The odds of playing Asfaloth are almost the same as before, thanks to all the card draw from Círdan, Erestor, Elven-light, Galadriel, or even Elrond.

Plus, the second copy of A Good Harvest gives us another way to play off-sphere cards, alongside Reforged and Stand and Fight.

Finally, I removed Glamdring (since I barely used it) and added a second Stone of Elostirion.

Heroes

Círdan the Shipwright

Glorfindel

(MotK) Erestor

Mulligan & Setup

Mulligan for Light of Valinor.
If it doesn’t show up, we can rely on Círdan, Erestor, and Elven-light for card draw.
Elven-light works especially well with Erestor’s ability, letting us draw two cards for 1 resource.

Strategy & Card Interactions

Narya Timing:
Narya’s Leadership access isn’t urgent. Wait until we have a couple of allies or a readying option for Círdan before playing it.

Discard Synergies:
Use Círdan and Erestor to discard cards for value, then play and cards with Stand and Fight and Reforged.

  • Erestor’s discard is best at the start of the combat phase, especially for boosting Warden of the Havens with attachments.
  • Use Reforged to play guarded attachments from the discard pile, ideally after quest resolution to avoid questing costs.
  • Silver Harp helps if we don’t have a clear discard for Círdan's forced effect.

Off-Sphere Tricks and Triggers:
We can also play off-sphere attachments (like Asfaloth and Rivendell Blade) with Galadriel’s response.

  • Don’t use Stand and Fight on Galadriel, since her response won’t trigger when she enters play this way!
  • Only play Elrond when his response is needed for healing or for removing nasty condition attachments.

Resource Smoothing:
A Good Harvest lets us play any card, but it’s especially useful for Asfaloth... since Galadriel is our only other (and pretty random) option after the Reforged errata.

Ally Management:
Guardian of Rivendell will be hard to play if we haven’t already found Silver Harp, Stone of Elostirion, or Prepare for Battle.

  • If we need to play the Guardian without having found any of those three cards, at least Eregion Survivor is going to benefit from the empty hand.

Looking for Keys:
Gather Information helps us fetch rare attachments like Silver Circlet or Silver Harp.

Sideboard

  • Sailors of Lune: Can be played the turn they’re drawn, but I prefer Eregion Survivor for better synergy with our discard and empty-hand effects.
  • Mariner's Compass: Lets us detach guarded cards from locations without exploring them, but in practice, I mostly used it to boost Warden of the Havens’s defense.
  • Glamdring: Excellent for enemy-heavy scenarios, providing extra card draw and attack, but I usually favor Stone of Elostirion for more consistent card draw.
  • Thorongil: Opens up alternate hero versions, and even Glorfindel if we include ALEP, but it isn’t essential for the main deck’s game plan.
  • Will of the West: Useful if we run out of cards mid- or late-game, but often not needed since Lords of the Eldar can be recycled from the discard pile for ongoing value.

In summary: This deck is all about Noldor card draw, discard combos, and attachment advantages. Mulligan for our key setup cards, use our discard pile as a resource, and let Noldor’s wisdom rise to any challenge the encounter deck throws at us.
