This deck does not work. I'm posting it anyway as a thought experiment, because it amuses me.
Stay tuned for v2.0, when it will work!
This is designed to play 2-player, alongside Uprooting The Evil..., which gives the whole fellowship many card draws and resources, and then plays Out of the Wild 10 times to cut down the encounter deck. The next step, of course, is for this deck to play Will of the West three times on that deck, to play Out of the Wild 21 more times. And after that... then what?
So, I built this assuming that I have drawn this entire deck, and have as many resources as I could possibly want. This assumption is not accurate at all, but that's my starting point. After the first player is done with Out of the Wild, this deck can then play its Legacy of Númenor, because Secrecy is no longer needed. Also, the other deck can play its Legacy of Númenor again, assuming I can avoid dying to threat.
The question then becomes, how much can I do with as few cards as possible? These are mostly very strong, very expensive cards, intended to defeat the quest as thoroughly as possible, with extreme prejudice. So I have:
- Keen as Lances, Daeron's Runes and We Are Not Idle for card draw, plus Legacy of Númenor, should get me everything I might still be missing. Ideally, the three discards for Daeron's Runes are Elven-light twice and Glorfindel.
- The Door is Closed! can cancel anything that has had duplicates removed from the deck. Note that it says "the effects," which includes Doomed, Surge, etcetera, as A Test of Will does not. Also, one A Test of Will for emergencies.
- Gandalf, Arwen Undómiel, Glorfindel, Firyal, Gimli - listed in order of importance - plus Sword that was Broken and Faramir, makes 24 quest power. If more is neeeded, Narya can ready Faramir for another 5. This is without any heroes questing.
- Glorfindel, Sword-thain, and Asfaloth work together to handle heavy-location emergencies.
- Denethor, Gondorian Shield, Arwen Undómiel, and Support of the Eagles with Winged Guardian makes 10 defense. Plus Song of Wisdom and A Burning Brand. Three Cram and two Feint for emergencies. Gimli's text can also help with emergencies.
- Beorn and Merry attack together for 9, readying Beorn again. Two Fast Hitch to repeat this as often as you like. Add Glorfindel up to twice by discarding, orGandalf or Gimli once, etcetera. When you're done, shuffle Beorn into a (hopefully) empty deck, play him again, rinse and repeat.
- Aragorn will reset threat at the end of the first turn. He will have Steward of Gondor, Celebrían's Stone, Roheryn, and Sword that was Broken, so he is all colors. Roheryn and Gondorian Fire let him destroy one enemy per turn before it attacks.
- Warden of Healing and Honour Guard for weird emergencies. One Elrond for REALLY weird emergencies.
... sounds like a great plan, right? Now let me tally up some resources:
- 33 resources for allies, not including those last three "for emergencies."
- 26 resources for attachments.
- 1 for Elven-light and 3 for Will of the West, and everything else is technically for emergencies.
Now let's count:
- 5 from Setup and Resource phase
- 6 from first player's Legacy of Númenor
- 6 more from Legacy of Númenor after we are done with Secrecy
- 9 from my own Legacy of Númenor
- 6 from Keen as Lances, hopefully
- 2 from Steward of Gondor
So I'm making 34 resources, and spending 59. Um... no. Back to the drawing board.
