This deck was built to have thematic heroes for a play through of the Fellowship of the Rings saga with a limited card pool.
Aragorn is the main questing character, who must get Celebrian’s Stone. Gimli is the main attacker, who needs Citadel Plate. Gimli is the best candidate for Steward of Gondor. Gimli should also receive Song of Kings. Legolas is a support attacker, who could get a Citadel Plate after Gimli. The allies are for defense and quest support.
The deck’s success relies on Aragorn getting Celebrian’s Stone and Gimli receiving Citadel Plate.
A player needs to mulligan if Celebrian’s Stone isn’t drawn in the initial setup.
If a mulligan doesn’t reveal Celebrian’s Stone, Dunedain Message and Gather Information are used to help find it. If Celebrian’s Stone is drawn in setup for early on, Gather Information should be used to find Citadel Plate or a threat reduction card, preferably Favor of the Valar or Gandolf.
A weakness of the deck is that its threat starts high and can quickly increase if a player isn’t able to play Celebrian’s Stone and a couple questing allies like Galadriel’s Handmaiden, West Road Traveler or Westfold Lancer.
The allies are meant to be questers and defenders. Honour Guard can be used to save Defender of Rahmas from attacks of five or more. Squire’s helm is also best used on Defender of Rahmas or Deorwine. Angor the Fearless and Westfold Lancer are mostly for questing, but can help attack if needed.
